  1. Allow unit allocation size option when adding a LUN to a cluster through GUI.

Right now in the GUI, the unit allocation size uses the OS default, which is 4k for a LUN less than 16TB. Add an option to choose the allocation size when formatting the LUN in SCVMM. This can be done through a script now, but not the GUI.

  2. Easier to add VMM to your existing failover cluster

Be able to add VMM to you network after you have already setup your failover cluster. Not everyone starts out with VMM to build their cluster. currently there are lot of things that you can't use unless you rebuild the cluster in VMM it seems.

  3. Web Client for VMM

It would be nice to have an web client for the VMM console, that would work on any browser

  4. Forbid placement non-HA VMs to clustered hosts

It would be great to see some kind of option to prevent placement or migration non highly avaliable virtual machines to clustered hosts.

That often happens when migrating VM from standalone host to cluster resulting unexpected VM downtimes in case of clustered host shutdown\reboot.

  5. v2v, p2v, vmm administration

I have encountered some problems in the last years:
    1. we need a tool (like Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter) but who can:
    - make p2v (for "still" existing physicals machines or for VMs from VMware or other platforms).
We can use v2v...but we need to copy the offline machine to the library, and then, because of the vcenter, the conversion for, let's say, a 500 GB VMs takes very long time (I had to wait around 6-7hours to migrate a machine from VMware to hyper-v) (~150 GB).

Imagine if we have to migrate from VMware to HyperV let's say 300+…

  6. Add a scroll bar when using the "Migrate Storage" function.

Please Add a scroll bar when using the "Migrate Storage" function.

When you have enough disks attached to A server, a scroll bar would come in handy.. :)

  7. Increase Number of Managed Hosts

Currently the number of hosts that can be managed by SCVMM is set at 1000 hosts. We are nearing 1600 hosts which requires 2 managed instances of SCVMM (2 separate backend environments) We would like to see an increase in the number of managed hosts that will not only take care of our current environment, but allow us to continue to grow.

  8. Allow a script to add Azure Subscriptions

When I add Azure Subscriptions to SCVMM 2012 R2 CU7 I see that it only applies for the 1 user, on that machine. It's not a global config.

I wish this took effect globally for all users that connect. If that's not possible, then I need to be able to script the addition of Azure Subscriptions so users can just run a script on each machine to have them added.

  9. Support NAS as Library

In this moment is a big limitation use only windows machines as Library. In many environment are used NAS devices running Linux distro, because are cheaper and much flexible than windows.

Adding support, without install the agent is the best way for VMM Library.

  10. Enable log for Shield VM data file wizard

For configuring and set up Shielded VM & guarded Host, there is online guide available in below link..https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Shielded-VMs-and-Guarded-44176db3/view/Discussions
    which is very helpful..

But,during the process of creating vm shielding data file, there is no logs generated and detailed information for the errors ShieldingDataFileWizard.exe .. it is very difficlut to troubleshoot..

This is one of the cases, like this there are many steps that needs to executed for using this shield VM feature..

I recommend it would be great to have logs for these wizard and document of known issues.. and troubleshooting steps

    Regards,
    Kalaivani

  12. Browse/list given datastore for running VMs

Within VMM, you can list available presented storage and show the amount consumed/available. It would be nice to show the list of VMs then running on a given datastore in order to easily identify and sort by the size the biggest consumers of a given datastore.

vCenter shows list of datastores and then VMs/virtual disks stored on them in order to help determine what can be migrated to another datastore as available storage becomes constrained.

  13. Move addins to the user profile

VMM stores vmm addins in %programfiles% under username. This is a horrible design. Please move user-defined addins to the userprofile and provide an option for system-wide installation of add-ins.

  14. Add support for key/value-tags

Please add proper key/value tags to VMM, much like the tags work in the preview Azure Portal. The current "single string" does not provide enough in terms of custom metadata, and the "Custom Properties" are a bit too intrusive and hard to work with.

  15. Virtual Machine Groups

We have different support groups that requires different level of access in the VMs created on Hyper-V hosts. Global ops should be able to manage all VMs. AD ops only domain controller VMs. SAP ops only SAP VMs. We can to it by assigning reources for each role, but it would be much easier if we could have VM groups that would be used to apply security and some other configurations. VMware uses folders to organize VM groups.

  16. OS customization for new VMs from Image

When deploying a new VM from a disk image, I cannot do OS Customization during the deploy process. If I create a new VM Template using the same disk, I can then do OS customizations when deplying from tha template. This carries over to WAP. I would like to not have to create a VM Template in order to deploy a VM and get OS customization (Admin password, hostname, etc.). Effectively, I can't deploy from a generic Image and get access to the VM.

  17. permament logging

I would like to have a permanent basic logging. When an issue happens only once or if we don't have a repro scenario, we can not rely on KB2913445 to have it run for weeks or months.

  18. Add support for CSVs in SAN copy based rapid provisioning

SAN copy based rapid provisioning results in 1 VHD per LUN and configures the LUN as a clustered non-CSV volume (when the VM is to be deployed as highly available).

It is much easier to manage and backup VMs running on CSVs. If the VM is running on a CSV, it can be backed up from any cluster node regardless of where the VM is running.

So, even though SAN based rapid provisioning requires 1 VHD per LUN, it will be great if SCVMM provides users an option to configure that LUN as a CSV.

  19. Improve WAP Integration

    * Storage classification
    * Multiple IP Addresses
    * Allow migration of NVGRE gateway between clusters and set fixed Public IP on virtual networks.
    * Better monitoring integration, get more information from VMM to WAP.

  20. Virtual Machine Template

Patching and update the VM template should be possible from SCVMM console, and from the current VM template.
I mean it should be possible to convert the current VM template to a VM so we can apply patches and updates and then reconvert the VM to Template.
