  1. Allow setting ExposeVirtualizationExtensions to true in VMM

We are using this for enabling Device Guard/Credential Guard on VMs not for nested virtualization.

  2. VMM 2016 CU1 Bug - "Start VM after deploying it" not working

When I select "Start the virtual machine after deploying it" in the Migrate VM Wizard, the VM is not started. I have not tried powershell and I only have 1 install to test with. All Hyper-V targets are 2016 fully patched. Source hosts are 2012 R2.

  3. VMM Console Doesn't Remember View Changes

Right now the VMM console does not remember all changes made when adding and removing columns from the VMs view of a host or cluster. For example, I add the "Disk Write Speed" column, and after closing and reopening, the "Disk Write Speed" column is no longer present again. Other columns, such as "Disk Read Speed", are correctly remembered.

  4. Set Affinity and Anti-affinity rules

I would like to be able to set affinity and anti-affinity rules in VMM console. So that we can ensure certain VMs are kept on the same host or kept on different hosts depending on their need.

  5. Add custom pre/post update remediation script for each host to make firmware updates possible during remediation cycle.

I suggest that you add possibility for pre and post powershell scripts for what to do before and after update remediation.
That way it would be possible to do hardware firmware upgrades during the remediation phase. Perhaps with configurable timeout before the host is supposed to be back online again?
Possible parameters to the pre and post scripts could be hostname, BMC address/BMC credentials.

  7. add 'Description' as a column option to Stored Virtual Machines and Services

Under Library Servers in SCVMM, there is a Stored Virtual Machines and Services group under a given library server. It would be useful to be able to show 'Description' column bound to the VM stored in the library so I can quickly see what the VM was used for or other notes.

  9. Logical network workflow concept

The creation and management of logical networks, sites, IP Pools, Port Uplinks and VM networks are all related in a VMM configuration but the management of these is very segmented.
As an example it would be better if I wanted to delete a Logical Network then VMM would show me the impact of deleting that logical network. VM's, Port uplinks, Sites etc that are affected and then provide the option to go ahead and clean up the associated resources for that logical network. If this affects the VM or the VM config is broken as a result this would be…

  10. Provide better explination of STATUS results

Currently we are using SMB scale out file storage with a HyperV clusters. We constantly get "?" when we look at the SMB File share storage in the cluster properties. There is no explanation given as to what the issue is. Would be nice to get some possible reasons for the status to help with troubleshooting

  11. Security Rights on Fabric

    Hi,

Currently there is no possibility to restrict access on the Fabric. For example, if I want to give to an administrator only rights to view/start/restart/shutdown/open console on VMS, there is no way to do this. It would be nice if more roles for fabric could be created like: Virtual Machine Deployment User, Virtual Machine Power user etc, roles that can be customized.

  12. Virtual Folders in Console UI

Please a "Create Folder" Feature like SCCM Console, that we can better sort or categorize the VM's for a nice Overview.

  13. We have many clusters and CPU compatiblity is the reason. Can you make it ignore dissimilar CPU generation migrations?

If we want to share nothing migrate a VM live to another cluster of like CPU it works fine. The issue is that in the list of VM hosts for the site we lump all clusters in the site. Because it is one site and it simplifies views/networking. So when we migrate a VM to a different cluster for tolerance reasons, sometimes we have techs migrating VM's that fail after attempting to migrate. It would be good to just gray star them out for not having the same CPU generational level.

  14. Replace Live Migration code

Please replace the live migration code used in VMM(dynamic optimization, maintenance. Mode) with the live migration code found in failover cluster manager.

When placing a host in maintenance mode or dynamic optimization, jobs constantly hang at various percentages which then require killing the vmmservice as that's the only way to get vmm to release the job.

Draining a host using failover cluster manager is near flawless. A host will fail to drain/complete in VMM, yet using FCM immediately after completes 100%. Various tickets have been opened with support regarding this issue with no sucess to date.

  15. introduce a function similar to VMWare vCenter Linked Mode

I suggest you introduce a function similar to VMWare vCenter Linked Mode where you can connect to and manage multiple VMM environments from the same VMM console.

  16. Create an easy way to connect to a new or existing database

Right now you have to reinstall VMM or use scvmmrecover.exe in order to change the database for VMM. It would be nice to have the option to fill in an other SQL database and when the database isn't found it create a new empty one or if one is found it uses that database. That way we can move between databases more easily. e.g. with Powershell or something.

  17. Get VMM more reliable and stable.

I currently have to work on VMM issues more than my Hyper-v failover cluster setup. The tool you use to manage something shouldn't be more of a hassle than the product you are managing.

  18. SCVMM Job Description with possible error cause

The SCVMM Jobs sometimes give an confusing error message.
    Per example
An internal error has occurred trying to contact the server: : .
WinRM: URL: [http://Server:5985], Verb: [INVOKE], Method: [HWScoutOffline], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/scvmm/P2VServerJob]

In my opinion it would be very helpful to display a possible root cause and provide a link to Knowledge article.

    Example Job VM Template Creation:
    Error Message:
An internal error has occurred trying to contact the server: : .
WinRM: URL: [http://Server:5985], Verb: [INVOKE], Method: [HWScoutOffline], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/scvmm/P2VServerJob]

    Possible Root Cause:
    sysprep binaries were missing
    See <link of a…

  19. Add option to sort and search the Address pool when creating VM

Add option to sort and search the Address pool when creating VM
When you create a VM is very frustrating to scroll through the entire list of Address poll's to find the right address pool (VLAN) in which you need to locate the VM because the aforementioned list is not sorted by any criteria and is not supported either search options. Perhaps this could be subsumed under existing bug ya SCVMM 2102 R2.

  20. Allow unit allocation size option when adding a LUN to a cluster through GUI.

Right now in the GUI, the unit allocation size uses the OS default, which is 4k for a LUN less than 16TB. Add an option to choose the allocation size when formatting the LUN in SCVMM. This can be done through a script now, but not the GUI.
