  1. Improve builtin reporting

Improve reporting templates to be able to more comprehensively view resource utilization and especially predict future usage

  2. Allow live migration of hyper-v protected VMs.

With Hyper-V protected VMs, the vast majority of data already exists on your target host. If a VM is not protected with replica, it migrates all the disk data and memory data and everything is good. With replica enabled there's less work -- most of the data is already on the target. Despite that, I can't do a live migration. While I can use SAN based replication I'd prefer to use Hyper-V replication because I have granularity of which VMs I'd like to protect and I don't have to take unnecessary snapshots of VMs that I don't want to protect.…

  3. Bare Metal Deployment (MPIO support)

It would be nice if MPIO was supported during Bare Metal Deployment as it would make the process more resilient to SAN network spikes and not duplicate detected disks if the same LUN is presented via multiple paths.

  4. IP Management

Customers cry out for the ability to see which VM has what IP in a easy format. Short of writing custom powershell would be good to just have it within the GUI

  5. Improve graphic management of vms

It could be nice to have "graphical groups" of vms, such as folder tree, that is mainly logical with no specific associated resources.

  6. A Great Management Pack

We need a brand new Management Pack that sets the reference for fabric monitoring. No more OpsMgr SDK dependencies to take into account managed service provider scenarios.

  7. Enable baremetal deployments with more than one network adapter (remove bug!)

Currently any bare metal deployments fail when you have more than one network adapter connected (also known by others in the web). This comes through multiple dns entries (as each adapter register itself) and therefore the VM server lost the connection. Additionally the host is registered with the WinPE name and not with the final host name. It seems that bare metal deployment was never really tested in real multi NIC blade environments. We had to create a couple workaround to bring it to live.

  8. create better integration to vmware

In the spirit of MS supporting other technologies, VMWare is here to stay and more people would find value in VMM if it had a better integration with VMWare.

  9. Database Consistency Tool

We are regularly faced with inconsistency in the database or we need to remove a cluster or a node but can't because VMM simply refuses. Repairing the database is risky and unsupported and once in while things get messed up. I'd love to see a tool which tests for VMM database inconsistency and a way to clean up

  11. Manage Updates directly from VMM

Today is necessary approve the updates from WSUS and, after this step, on VMM but is not "good" procedure because is too long. Could be better use the engine of WSUS but manage the updates from VMM with the possibility to select what kind of updates see (critical, security / WS2012, WS2012R2)

  12. Improve dangerous PowerShell CMDlets

Right now you can easily remove all cloud services (VM Role deployments) because there is no confirm impact for the remove-cloudservice and remove-cloudresource cmdlets. Also whatif is not available.
When running get-cloudservice | remove-cloudservice, everything is gone without any prompt for confirmation.

  13. HNV Network Virtualization Policy Refresher

Allow Policies of HNV gateways to be refreshed / reset for all or certain networks. Frequently virtualized networks get outdated and there is no way to reset the policies on all hosts / gateways or do any troubleshooting at all.

  14. Make SMI-S more reliable

SMI-S is not reliable enough to do bulk updates to storage array's and SAN fabrics. Many failures and unexpected wait times. Retries have to be build-in service templates for provisioning just because of this.

  15. Make it possible to Live Migrate VMM with VMM

Would be nice to be able to Live Migrate VMM through VMM and not have to use ClusterManager to move that VM.

  16. Simultaneous Live Migration from VMM Console

When I need to live migrate a number of VM's (not all because we can place a host in maintenance mode), I'd like to multi-select those VMs and live migrate them together. Now I go back to FCM and do it from there.

  17. HNV GW Cluster deployment / migration

Ease the deployment of the HNV Gateway deployment. Now you can only deploy it through Service Templates. They are subject to many errors during the deployment. Also there is no way to easily migrate networks between gateways. there should be a option for that too

  18. Rename the product to Datacenter Manager

Rename the product in such a way that people understand that VMM is much more than a Hypervisor Manager - Suggestions: DataCenter Manager

  19. Simplify ASR & WAP integration. Add ASR integration at host group level, not Cloud level to simplify DR for tenants

The challenges today with ASR integration together with Azure Pack:

Requires at least two management stamps (increases footprint and costs)

Requires two Service Provider Foundation installations

Requires two Windows Azure Pack environments (which can be comprehensive when it’s for production scenarios, especially service providers)

Makes NVGRE complex for tenant workloads

It’s the opposite of what's origin – which is democratization of Disaster Recovery scenarios

DR is enabled at the Cloud level in SCVMM, which breaks the relationship between subscriptions, hosting plans for tenants in Windows Azure Pack

    Suggestion(s):

Remove DR integration at the Cloud level in SCVMM

    Enable the DR…

  20. More flexibile service templates

Today we are kinda locked-in when it comes to service templates and deployment of those. I would like to see more flexibility here, such as:

    • dynamically add/remove tiers and instances to an existing service template

    • better management capabilities of the entire service and each individual tier, such as live migration, patching, and DSC integration
