  1. Virtual network adapters in VM increase 64 for Windows Server 2019 Hyper-V

Windows Server 2019 Hyper-V has increase the scalability of virtual network adapters in the VM to 64 for Hyper-V specific network adapters now (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/plan/plan-hyper-v-scalability-in-windows-server)

While VMM2019 still have the hard limit in the GUI (not sure about powershell) to just only 8 vnic.

VMM should increase this limit to follow Windows Server 2019 scalability

  3. Replica - Filter out Replicated VMs from Active Servers in single VMM server scenario

Replica - Filter out Replicated VMs from active servers if using one VMM server or have category or tab or section where all the Replicated VMs are located.

  4. scvmm service account

Service account - Name Change or ID change is a tedious task. Can you please fix the procedure to just change password or change service account in VMM without re installing VMM

  5. Help with SQL Account Issues

When you log in with an account that has RunAs Permissions, it creates an account for the user under the database. It is removed when the user logs out.

Since the user does not have a general SQL account, it is being flagged by security for a client as orphaned. As in, a user who does not have access to SQL suddenly has an account for the database. As a result, they have to submit a security exception.

They would like the account that does not exist in SQL to not be created

  7. In SCVMM please add an ICON on the Hyper V host that shows when the Host is in maintenance mode under the "VMs and Services view".

Currently under VMs and Services view, when a host is in maintenance mode there is no icon showing that. You have to click on the host and bring up a menu to see that it's in maintenance mode. It would be helpful if a icon showing the host was in maintenance mode appeared when you put the host in maintenance mode.

  8. Enable nested virtualization for Self Service Users

Nested virtualization requires administrator or delegated administrator role to access.
Please allow this for the Self Service User role.

  9. VMM Plugin for Windows Admin Center

Would like to see a plugin In Windows Admin Center for SCVMM so that administrators can perform VM and Host Management tasks from a web based interface rather than depending on the MMC console.
Also it would enable self-servicing by giving the ability for delegated administrators or tenants to administer their own VMs and also create their own VMs under their clouds

  10. Can't enable Nested Virtualization from the SPF endpoint

Can't enable Nested Virtualization from the SPF endpoint

Suggesting to add a feature request. We are seeing a behavior where you are unable to enable Nested Virtualization from the SPF endpoint however you can perform this task using PS or the SCVMM console.

  11. scvmm vhd

When creating a VM from template in SCVMM, the disk name (vhd file) is named the same as the VM name. 1. This makes it match the directory the vhd file is in. 2. Saves a step which if it is missed creates a VHD the same as VHD stored in the library server ("bad"). 3. This will save "errors" if people forget to rename the VHD file prior to creating the VM.

Yes, yes automation with PowerShell or some other product can address this but this should be the default behavior in SCVMM. As if you just spin up…

  12. allow wildcards

Powershell modules don't accept wildcard values, like Get-VM -Name 'M*', this is available in PowerCLI on ESX, and is frustrating that it is not available. I can do a filter for results, but I would love to see this added.

  13. Enable Shared Nothing Live Migrations between Hyper-V Clusters using SOFS Clusters

In our setup a Hyper-V cluster does have it's own SOFS cluster, we have several of those clusters. So a one-to-one relationship is established between a Hyper-V Cluster and a SOFS Cluster.
SCVMM 2016 does not allow for VM's to be live-migrated between Hyper- V clusters while this was possible using SCVMM2012R2. This functionality disappeared magically in 2016. We really need this since we migrate VMs regularly between clusters.
For example; we do have local clusters and stretched clusters, we need to live migrate VMs between those for distributing load and SLA levels. The loss of this functionality is documented…

  15. SCVMM re-scan of Hyper V cluster to update its database

SCVMM gets itself in a mess, Cluster Manager knows were the VM's are SCVMM think's it knows and you get in a situation were you can't fix it. Its so frustration...

  16. VMM library servers in multiple sites -> synchronization of content

That’s a major issue that there is no support for DFS-R to keep different VMM library servers in different sites in sync or up to date. If we can use DFS-R for it that would be a good step forward.

This feature is being planned, will update once we start working on this.

  17. Multi select in UI

please add the ability to multiselct and do "anything" aka shutdown move and so on , having to select a vm at a time for some functions is very time consuming

  19. storage classification

it would be useful that all the storage (iscsi, smb, fc etc) presented to a host and/or cluster and tagged with a classification to be summed and present a summary in Fabric>Storage>Classification and pools (size, available capacity, etc etc).
Now event the storage is tagged with a classification... no data is presented.

  20. Database Consistency Tool

We are regularly faced with inconsistency in the database or we need to remove a cluster or a node but can't because VMM simply refuses. Repairing the database is risky and unsupported and once in while things get messed up. I'd love to see a tool which tests for VMM database inconsistency and a way to clean up
