In SCVMM please add an ICON on the Hyper V host that shows when the Host is in maintenance mode under the "VMs and Services view".
Currently under VMs and Services view, when a host is in maintenance mode there is no icon showing that. You have to click on the host and bring up a menu to see that it's in maintenance mode. It would be helpful if a icon showing the host was in maintenance mode appeared when you put the host in maintenance mode.

Enable nested virtualization for Self Service Users
Nested virtualization requires administrator or delegated administrator role to access.
Please allow this for the Self Service User role.6 votes -
Can't enable Nested Virtualization from the SPF endpoint
Can't enable Nested Virtualization from the SPF endpoint
Suggesting to add a feature request. We are seeing a behavior where you are unable to enable Nested Virtualization from the SPF endpoint however you can perform this task using PS or the SCVMM console.

VMM Plugin for Windows Admin Center
Would like to see a plugin In Windows Admin Center for SCVMM so that administrators can perform VM and Host Management tasks from a web based interface rather than depending on the MMC console.
Also it would enable self-servicing by giving the ability for delegated administrators or tenants to administer their own VMs and also create their own VMs under their clouds26 votes -
scvmm vhd
When creating a VM from template in SCVMM, the disk name (vhd file) is named the same as the VM name. 1. This makes it match the directory the vhd file is in. 2. Saves a step which if it is missed creates a VHD the same as VHD stored in the library server ("bad"). 3. This will save "errors" if people forget to rename the VHD file prior to creating the VM.
Yes, yes automation with PowerShell or some other product can address this but this should be the default behavior in SCVMM. As if you just spin up…

Enable Shared Nothing Live Migrations between Hyper-V Clusters using SOFS Clusters
In our setup a Hyper-V cluster does have it's own SOFS cluster, we have several of those clusters. So a one-to-one relationship is established between a Hyper-V Cluster and a SOFS Cluster.
SCVMM 2016 does not allow for VM's to be live-migrated between Hyper- V clusters while this was possible using SCVMM2012R2. This functionality disappeared magically in 2016. We really need this since we migrate VMs regularly between clusters.
For example; we do have local clusters and stretched clusters, we need to live migrate VMs between those for distributing load and SLA levels. The loss of this functionality is documented…22 votes -

VMM library servers in multiple sites -> synchronization of content
That’s a major issue that there is no support for DFS-R to keep different VMM library servers in different sites in sync or up to date. If we can use DFS-R for it that would be a good step forward.

Multi select in UI
please add the ability to multiselct and do "anything" aka shutdown move and so on , having to select a vm at a time for some functions is very time consuming
118 votesThank you for your votes and support. We have updates to the Multi select Ui in VMM 2012 R2 UR6. For more information on UR6, please go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3050317/.
This idea overall is still under review. -

We're discussed this but I want to say it again: it's VERY annoying to click Repair->Ignore every time...

storage classification
it would be useful that all the storage (iscsi, smb, fc etc) presented to a host and/or cluster and tagged with a classification to be summed and present a summary in Fabric>Storage>Classification and pools (size, available capacity, etc etc).
Now event the storage is tagged with a classification... no data is presented.6 votes -

allow wildcards
Powershell modules don't accept wildcard values, like Get-VM -Name 'M*', this is available in PowerCLI on ESX, and is frustrating that it is not available. I can do a filter for results, but I would love to see this added.

VM and Hoststatus for Selfservice User -> Unknown
When using VMM with SelfService Users (SSU) the SSU can only see the virtual machine status (VMS) – the user is not able to see the host status itself. I.e. when the host is “host not responding” the SSU will see Status: Running and Virtual Machine Status: Running.
(screenshot 1)
VMM hides the host status and keeps the last known VMS. It’s the same story for Admins and Delegated Admins with one difference – the user is able to see the host status:
(screenshot 2)
It’s possible that a not responding host does not lead to an outage of the…

Deferred updates for VM configuration settings
Assume you want to change VM configuration. For example, change vCPU count, allow migration to different CPU version, change MAC address type (dynamic/static), attach FC adapters and may be others. All of this actions require to stop VM to perform this changes.
I want to suggest option that allow make this changes in VMM and postpone it to put to VM until it reboots.

Service Templates Scale Out
With SCVMM Servie Templates, it should be possible, to scale out a Computer tier with more than one VM at a time.
Per example:
Click Scale Out Computer Tier
Choose count of VM´s that should be created in this Tier

can Support Server 2016 as library Server for SCVMM 2012 R2
Hi there,
is it possible to add a library Server which is installed with Server 2016 to a SCVMM 2012 R2 Environment? This would be very helpful because we only want to install Server 2016 as OS for our new Servers.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards

add 'Description' as a column option to Stored Virtual Machines and Services
Under Library Servers in SCVMM, there is a Stored Virtual Machines and Services group under a given library server. It would be useful to be able to show 'Description' column bound to the VM stored in the library so I can quickly see what the VM was used for or other notes.
