  1. HNV GW Cluster deployment / migration

Ease the deployment of the HNV Gateway deployment. Now you can only deploy it through Service Templates. They are subject to many errors during the deployment. Also there is no way to easily migrate networks between gateways. there should be a option for that too

  2. Detect and allow KVP data exchange properties to be exposed as custom properties

We have specific properties that we pass up and down to the VM via KVP, such as 'managed custom properties' to add a 'add existing kvp attribute'. These can then be selected to show on the main view.

Currently, we have a non-trivial WMI script that queries and updates same-name VMM custom attributes with this data so we have a single pane of glass for these values

For example, typically for us we bring drive usage (to compare against VHDx size), escalation manager, and particular system component information up (particular result of a SQL query) to view within VMM so…

  3. KVM support

Add support for KVM hosts. OpenStack connector would be nice too but KVM management is a must.

  4. VMM Dependency Report and Deletion Tool

Removing objects from VMM quickly becomes a nightmare with all dependencies. To quickly get an overview of the hierarchy and dependencies a VMM Dependency Report would be very helpful. Also interactively deleting objects taking into account dependencies could be an improvement here.

  5. In SCVMM please add an ICON on the Hyper V host that shows when the Host is in maintenance mode under the "VMs and Services view".

Currently under VMs and Services view, when a host is in maintenance mode there is no icon showing that. You have to click on the host and bring up a menu to see that it's in maintenance mode. It would be helpful if a icon showing the host was in maintenance mode appeared when you put the host in maintenance mode.

  6. Browse/list given datastore for running VMs

Within VMM, you can list available presented storage and show the amount consumed/available. It would be nice to show the list of VMs then running on a given datastore in order to easily identify and sort by the size the biggest consumers of a given datastore.

vCenter shows list of datastores and then VMs/virtual disks stored on them in order to help determine what can be migrated to another datastore as available storage becomes constrained.

  8. Email distribution or RSS feed for hotfixes for "known" issues that aren't so "known" (business impact)

It would be helpful to have an RSS Feed or email distribution so when "known Issues" internal to microsoft are "known", the community in general will also know.

for example, there was a hotfix for an issue created with UR12 for system center affecting replication. Our engineering team had to open a case with microsoft.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=54854

Admittedly, in this case, the title of the article for the hotfix does not imply that it fixes our specific replication issue which was caused by UR12 but when we call in and are told it is a "known Issue", it would be nice…

  9. VM and Hoststatus for Selfservice User -> Unknown

When using VMM with SelfService Users (SSU) the SSU can only see the virtual machine status (VMS) – the user is not able to see the host status itself. I.e. when the host is “host not responding” the SSU will see Status: Running and Virtual Machine Status: Running.

    (screenshot 1)

VMM hides the host status and keeps the last known VMS. It’s the same story for Admins and Delegated Admins with one difference – the user is able to see the host status:

    (screenshot 2)

It’s possible that a not responding host does not lead to an outage of the…

  10. Add a scroll bar when using the "Migrate Storage" function.

Please Add a scroll bar when using the "Migrate Storage" function.

When you have enough disks attached to A server, a scroll bar would come in handy.. :)

  11. Virtual Folders in Console UI

Please a "Create Folder" Feature like SCCM Console, that we can better sort or categorize the VM's for a nice Overview.

  12. Potential Bug: Pushing a VMM Agent to an Infrastructure server existing certificate bindings are replaced

When pushing a VMM 2016 UR4 agent to an infrastructure server. If the infrastructure server has an existing certificate bound to HTTPS, example RDSGateway and Network Controller. The agent installation will remove the existing certificate binding when setting up BITS.

  13. Bare Metal Deployment (post deployment automation)

It would be nice if there was a good way to inject execution of custom scripts or either a way to trigger MDT (and\or SCCM) task sequence (with a support of TS initiated reboot) as a final deployment step once the host got all the needed settings from SCVMM but before it become available for placement. This step is needed to automate installation of vendor specific drivers/tools (and other software) that for whatever reason cannot be injected into the template VHDX. Currently, the workaround is to use the GUIRunOnce attribute together with auto logon in the unattend.xml file, but that's…

  14. SCVMM add-in installed from Powershell

For add-in's which have to be installed and worked upon silently, there should be a way to install and uninstall from a powershell script

  15. Enable adding shared VHDX to existing deployed service in VMM.

Actually you are not able to add a shared VHDx to an existing deployed service in VMM.

    Please enable this feature.

A good thing would be the usage of shared VHDx without Service-Templates too.

  16. Improve graphic management of vms

It could be nice to have "graphical groups" of vms, such as folder tree, that is mainly logical with no specific associated resources.

  17. show checkpoints from the VMs window as an additional column.

I have machines with checkpoints... A ton of them. And it can be cumbersome to launch powershell scripts if I'm coming from VMWare. I propose an option to add a column that says something as simple as yes for it has a checkpoint. Then maybe another column to show the size of the avhd/avhdx file.

  19. use offline domainjoin instead of unattend.xml

Currently VMM is using unattend.xml for domain joins for VMs and Hyper-V hosts. This contains having unencrypted passwords stored as cleartext at some points of time during the deployment.

We would prefer using offline domain join instead - as it was done for nano server in the past.

  20. create better integration to vmware

In the spirit of MS supporting other technologies, VMWare is here to stay and more people would find value in VMM if it had a better integration with VMWare.
