Easier setup and management of Logical and Virtual Switches/Networks
The configuration and setup of Logical Networks and Switches are hard for administrators to learn and understand.
There is need to simplify this and also provide a graphical overview for how things are connected on a logical level. (the current build in view is not good enough).201 votes -
VMM library servers in multiple sites -> synchronization of content
That’s a major issue that there is no support for DFS-R to keep different VMM library servers in different sites in sync or up to date. If we can use DFS-R for it that would be a good step forward.
169 votesThis feature is being planned, will update once we start working on this.

SDN deployed by VMM can be managed through WAC SDN extension
Currently SDN deployed using VMM cannot be managed outside of VMM. WAC has a SDN extension which is useful to monitor, troubleshoot and manage SDN.
It will be super useful to be able to use WAC to monitor / manage SDN deployed through VMM159 votes -
Enable HVR without Azure dependency controlled from VMM
Add the ability to control failover and enable replica from VMM without the dependency/cost of Azure Integratio

Multi select in UI
please add the ability to multiselct and do "anything" aka shutdown move and so on , having to select a vm at a time for some functions is very time consuming
121 votesThank you for your votes and support. We have updates to the Multi select Ui in VMM 2012 R2 UR6. For more information on UR6, please go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3050317/.
This idea overall is still under review. -
VHD Set support
Add VHD Set support in VMM. Support for shared VHDX and now VHD Set has been requested for years, yet VMM ignores this critical feature.
One of the greatest advancements of VHD Set over shared VHDX is the ability to migrate vhd set, yet VMM has no support for this.
Please add VHD Set management (create, attach, dettach, migrate ....) to VMM.
119 votesVHD sets is supported for guest clusters in VMM 2016 and above releases. (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/vmm/hyper-v-guest-cluster?view=sc-vmm-2016). In addition we are reviewing if any additional scenarios for VHD sets need to be supported.

End-to-End Hyper-V and Cluster Management in the SCVMM Console
Today we are not able to fully manage Hyper-V Hosts and Clusters from the SCVMM Console. For some settings we still need to do it from the local host. It would be great to have SCVMM to support all the Hyper-V and Cluster features in just one console.
116 votesHello all,
We have reviewed the idea in great length. However, due to the large scope, we broke the top common 4 sub-idea into a separate ideas. If your idea is not being reflected as part of the 4 sub-ideas. Please subscribing your idea separately.
We do appreciate your candidate suggestions and hope you would help us further going forward.

Do not lock VMs in UI when a job is failed
We're discussed this but I want to say it again: it's VERY annoying to click Repair->Ignore every time...

SCVMM re-scan of Hyper V cluster to update its database
SCVMM gets itself in a mess, Cluster Manager knows were the VM's are SCVMM think's it knows and you get in a situation were you can't fix it. Its so frustration...

A Great Management Pack
We need a brand new Management Pack that sets the reference for fabric monitoring. No more OpsMgr SDK dependencies to take into account managed service provider scenarios.

Better performance management in VMM
I like to see what performance counters on Hyper-V hosts and VMs on the following components:
- CPU
- Memory
- Network
- DiskThese performance counters can be viewed in a graph for a day, week and month trend.
It would be nice to see what are the top hosts and VMs on CPU, memory, network and disk I/O in realtime in SCVMM without the use of SCOM

Hyper-V Replication Health and Status Monitoring in VMM
There must be complete monitoring of Hyper-V Replication from the VMM Console, as it is in the Hyper-V Manager.
Currently VMM does not understand/recognize the replica VMs after the installation of UR5.
The VMM administrators must be able to have real-time monitoring of Hyper-V Replication and all other related tasks (Pause, Resume, Resynchronize, etc.) that are availble in the Hyper-V manager Console.
There must be a column against the Vm on the VMM Console which should be describe that a VM is Primary or Replica.71 votes -
Add DPM integration
Addin functionality to add a VM to a DPM protection group on creation (Template). Make it fairly simple like the ASR integration. View protection group / DPM server in console without custom fields.
You could have a backup group for DPM servers in fabric computers, and assign them to host groups.
If a cluster or host group is protected by DPM, install the agent onto new hosts as they are added.Fix the issue with using the DPM and VMM module at the same time maybe.

give Console View in VMM the same options like in Hyper-V or FailoverCluster Manager
sometimes i need to use the console view to connect to the VMs desktop. But the console view in VMM is not as good as the viewer in FCM or Hyper-V manager.
Please make the console view the same as in the other management tools (i. e. Insert Integration Services disk, Start, Stop VM, etc.)59 votes -
Make the failover cluster manager VM role names the same as they are named in VMM and Hyper-V
Currently when you create a VM in VMM it adds a prefix and suffix to the role name when created in Failover Cluster Manager. "SCVMM ServerName Resources" for example.
When I name a VM, I want the name to stay the same no matter where I am looking. (Hyper-V Manager, Failover Cluster Manager and VMM.) If I name a server "JoesWebServer" I don't want it to change in FCM to "SCVMM JoesWebServer Resources".

Bring back support for VMM Host and VM Dashboards in SCOM 2016
Update the VM and Hosts Dashboards management pack that was released for VMM 2012 and SCOM 2012. This Management Pack can no longer be imported into a SCOM 2016/VMM 2016 monitoring scenario.
System Center 2012 R2 Management Pack for Virtual Machine Manager Host and Virtual Machine Dashboards
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=43707&WT.mcid=rssalldownloads_allWithout this Management Pack the usability of SCOM for monitoring the Hyper-V Hosts and VMs is virtually non-existent

"Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan -Trunk" in the GUI settings of the network adapter
There are times when you need to give the virtual machine a trunk-port. This has to be done through Powershell: Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan -Trunk -AllowedVlanIdList xxx -NativeVlanId yyy
I would like to add the option in the GUI settings of the network adapter of the virtual machine for easy of use.52 votes -
Support Cross-Cluster Migrations using S2D/SOFS Storage in Converged Environment
SCVMM (VMM) & S2D should support cross-cluster migration of highly available VMs.
Migrations of highly-available VMs from one cluster to another while using S2D and SOFS as a storage solution (NOT hyper-converged) should be supported by VMM.
VMM has built-in functionality to allow migration of a VM from one cluster to another.
This does NOT work with HA VMs when your storage solution is SOFS on S2D. The VM will be placed in pause-critical, effectively a failed migration.
I believe this is a shortcoming on the part of Failover Clustering not properly handling storage communication, but not sure as this…

Add deduplication option to the Create Logical Unit wizard
Currently the Create Logical Unit wizard offers two options:
thin provisioned and thick provisioned.
Please add 'Thin provisioned and deduplicated'
Or give each storage pool a default settings option, in which the new LUN defaults for that pool are saved (thin/thick, deduplication, compression, ...)47 votes
