  1. Simultaneous Live Migration from VMM Console

When I need to live migrate a number of VM's (not all because we can place a host in maintenance mode), I'd like to multi-select those VMs and live migrate them together. Now I go back to FCM and do it from there.

  2. Database Consistency Tool

We are regularly faced with inconsistency in the database or we need to remove a cluster or a node but can't because VMM simply refuses. Repairing the database is risky and unsupported and once in while things get messed up. I'd love to see a tool which tests for VMM database inconsistency and a way to clean up

  6. Rename the product to Datacenter Manager

Rename the product in such a way that people understand that VMM is much more than a Hypervisor Manager - Suggestions: DataCenter Manager

  7. Library Share without Windows

In this moment a library must be on a Window Server and this is not good because for vhdx, iso, scripts and more could be used share on a remote storage, like QNAP or others, where the agent cannot be installed.

  8. Improve Update Console

Update console is too "poor" because I can't see who many servers need a specific update and if the update is obsolete or not. The console must be improved like WSUS

  9. Manage Updates directly from VMM

Today is necessary approve the updates from WSUS and, after this step, on VMM but is not "good" procedure because is too long. Could be better use the engine of WSUS but manage the updates from VMM with the possibility to select what kind of updates see (critical, security / WS2012, WS2012R2)

  10. VMM library servers in multiple sites -> synchronization of content

That’s a major issue that there is no support for DFS-R to keep different VMM library servers in different sites in sync or up to date. If we can use DFS-R for it that would be a good step forward.

    planned  ·  Ashish Mehndi responded

This feature is being planned, will update once we start working on this.

  11. Cluster Deployment -> Logical Switch Deployment / Static IP address assignment

If a Hyper-V cluster is created with VMM you can only create a Standard Switch on all Hyper-V hosts. It would be better to select a Logical Switch here.

Another pain point is the assignment of a static IP address to the cluster. In the 2012 R2 release sometimes it works that the option will be visible sometimes not. A drop down menu where I can choose between DHCP or static assignment would be better.

  13. Job Locking , read vs write

today a host refresh thats read only locks a change on a host/vm , changing so a read only jobs dont prevent any changes from being applied , and que jobs if locked instead of failing them

please add the ability to multiselct and do "anything" aka shutdown move and so on , having to select a vm at a time for some functions is very time consuming

  16. Make it possible to Live Migrate VMM with VMM

Would be nice to be able to Live Migrate VMM through VMM and not have to use ClusterManager to move that VM.

  17. Patch Baselines - add "All xxxxx Servers" for each type

When working with Baselines for patching, it's possible to choose "All hosts" so all new hosts are automatically added to that Baseline.
But there is currently not possible to also pick "All infrastructure Servers" or "All PXE Servers" so when a new server of that type is added, it's automatically included in the baselines just as a host would be.

  18. Make PatchManagement use WSUS Approval Rules

It would be great if VMM could use the pre-approval groups and rules already setup in WSUS.

  19. Easier setup and management of Logical and Virtual Switches/Networks

The configuration and setup of Logical Networks and Switches are hard for administrators to learn and understand.
There is need to simplify this and also provide a graphical overview for how things are connected on a logical level. (the current build in view is not good enough).

  20. Flexible poll settings in VMM pr host/host group

today polling remote hyper-v hosts takes alot of bandwith , the ability to set poll frequency based on a host/host group would be a great option , or add the ability to set a host to push so it only pushes changes to reduce load
