  1. Improve seriously Azure Subscription configuration wizard in VMM

Well I don't understand why the certificate needed in Add Azure Subscription wizard in VMM must be in current user personnal store. Why we cannot use Computer, personnal store ?

Also, there is no description of key usage needed for this Azure Management Certificate. Makecert is really not an option when as a serious IT you have a private PKI.

The crazy thing is that in SC App Controller, to connect an Azure Subscription, it's possible to use certificate in Computer Store.

    declined  ·  Ashish Mehndi responded

New approach – AD based for connection to Azure is being implemented.

  2. Include static routes into Static IP Address Pool

Currently, Static IP Address Pools include most of the IP configuration options one might need--such as available address range, default gateway, DNS servers, etc. I see many customers using static routes in their environments, especially for "special" infrastructure networks such as BMC/IPMI addresses. This currently requires manual configuration for affected machines after they get IP address from pool.

  3. Ability to unregister a VM without deleting it from SCVMM

Seems that the only action that I can take to remove a VM from SCVMM is delete option. It would be nice to have the ability to unregister the VM without actually deleting it completely.

  4. job scheduler for maintenance tasks such as adding cpu to VM

It would be great to have tasks I could schedule, or just configure and it would be done during maintenance window for VMs - such as adding CPU or anything else what needs to put VM offline.

  5. Folder structure for Templates and Profiles

Since our deployment of WAP we have alot of different Templates and hardware profiles, it would be great to group these, just like the library files.

  6. Add a field in VMM that shows when a VM was last backed up.

VMWARE does this in vCenter and it's very useful to eyeball when guests were backed up last. It also can aid when backups caused an issue for a machine possibly. It also makes it so my VM guy doesn't need to go talk to my backup guy.

  8. Update VMM agent on untrusted domains

When attempting to update the VMM agents on hosts in un-trusted domains, the job fails. Currently there is a loooonnnggg work around involving uninstall, re-install, and exporting the certificate. It would be nice if this was able to be done directly through SCVMM console.

  9. Add custom comments to VMs in SCVMM

It would be good to have the ability to add and display custom comments in SCVMM. I realize there are custom attributes that can be set up but those can't be added to a view as a column item.

  10. Date of last reboot of the virtual machine

It would be useful to add a column "Date of last reboot of the virtual machine" in the list of virtual machines.

  14. Make VMM consistent with Failover Cluster Manager (menus, naming conventions etc)

The menus and naming conventions used between SCVMM and FCM are very inconsistent, would be good to bring them inline.

  16. IP Pool improvement

Add option to manually assign IPs from reserved IP range. Also had option for VMM to catalog these addresses as used from this pool.

Currently VMM ignore any IPs from reserved range and there is no info about these reserved IPs in VMM even these addreses are used by managed VMs.

  18. Remember window size

The dialog windows in VMM are ridicoulisly small on modern larger screens. Whenever I open a window, the first thing I have to do is to "drag" it to expand it and "fix" its layout (left/right split). VMM should remember the window size of dialog windows and open them to the same size the next time a window is opened.

  19. Make SCVMM faster as Failover clustering.

The over all speed of the product needs to be improved as well as the currency of the progress bar for any task.
    Example:
When I make a change with Failover clustering I see progress that reflect my job with in seconds but if i use VMM it takes long time for that to be presented.

  20. enable creating duplicite subnet

Usually customers do networking wrong. If I'm redesigning it, its usually easier to rebuild VMM, because logical networks are total mess and they usually already define subnets (in one connects network, and it should be in vlan isolated for example...). And I cannot create it correctly, because subnet already exists.
