  1. Update integration components without shutting down option.

Much like the hyper-v console how I can "insert integration service" disk and do an upgrade reboot, it would be nice not to have to shut down the machine to do this in VMM. Or even cooler would be to schedule it to upgrade on next reboot. Granted I know windows update will soon take over this task.

  2. Connection VMM with WSUS from a disconnected network

To manage updates in Virtual Machine Manager (VMM), you must have a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server with choosed Upstream Server - Synchronize with Microsoft Update. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg675099.aspx .
Can you fix this to run with a disconnected network wsus and vmm installation?
    Sorry for my bad english

  3. Windows Server Gateway VPN compatibility and managment

Currently, there are only a handful of devices said to be compatible with Windows Server Gateway. (http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2014/12/26/vpn-interoperability-guide-for-windows-server-2012-r2.aspx) A hotfix for the ASA family would be nice.

Also, the lack of options exposed to SCVMM console is frustrating.

  4. VMM Perimeter Network

According to Technet, VMM doesn't currently support adding Hyper-V clusters in perimeter networks: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/gg610642.aspx

However, clusters are supported in "untrusted domains".

It would be helpful if VMM could be updated to support perimeter clusters, especially when working with NVGRE gateway clusters.

  6. Configurable Memory reserve ratio attribute for powered-off VMs to reduce RAM reservation in cluster over-commit computation

We are facing issues with cluster over-commit computation algorithm in Pay-As-You-Go model, where powered-off VMs are not free in term of RAM reservations. This attribute will help us to decide how much memory will be reserved for powered-off VMs.

Other improvements for cluster RAM over-commit computation can be passing quota limits from WAP Subscription to computation algorithm. For example customer has 5 VMs with 32GB RAM, but subscription allow him run only 3 VMs with 96GB RAM in total. It is wasting of RAM to compute all 5 VMs, because only 3 of them can run simultaneously.

  7. Add Resize a VM option to SCVMM for Azure VMs

In the SCVMM 2012 R2 UR 6 we have an option to Start and shutdown Azure VMs. We would like to see the Resize option as well which will help the support teams in large environment.

  9. Add feature to configure custom ports for a VM, adding / editing ports for VM

Ability to configure ports for Azure VM's, today if a custom port needs to be configured for a VM, its more update registry and external port management via Azure portal, this feature will help configuring same by pushing/running scripts in the background for user.

  10. Quota for storage classifications

A quota system similar to what is in place for memory and cpu to govern how much space a user or a subscription from Azure Pack is able to use on different classifications of storage. E.G. User A wants high speed storage for VMs and some low speed storage for general data, so this user gets 80GB of "Silver" tier storage and 300GB of "Bronze tier. This would also need to be accompanied by the ability to select where a VM's disk are placed during provisioning through the Azure pack portal or from VMM.

  11. More granular control and more options in Clouds

    Wish list...

    1. Allow to set relative priorities for CPU, RAM, Storage QoS, etc. between clouds. i.e. - All VMs in Cloud A (Prod) and higher priorities than VMs in Cloud B (Test/Dev).
    2. Control/restrict VM networks in addition logical networks in a cloud. I don't want users connecting their test/dev VMs to the production networks that they otherwise have permission to.

  12. KVM support

Add support for KVM hosts. OpenStack connector would be nice too but KVM management is a must.

  13. Provide better error message for failed Compliance Scans

When performing a compliance scan of a managed Hyper-V host where the underlying root cause is related to WSUS, the following error is returned in the VMM job:
Error (2931) VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the VMM agent on the virtualization server (server01.domain.local) was lost. Unknown error (0x80338029)

The error message indicates connection problems between SC VMM and the managed host, which is misleading when the problem is related to WSUS. An example of a specific case is available in this article:
    http://blog.crayon.com/compliance-scan-sc-vmm-fails-error-2931/

  14. Job execution log view/tab

Add a tab on jobs view that will display a complete execution log for the selected job: all the commands that were run, with input parameters and returned results.

  16. Allow both IPv4 and IPv6 in the same virtual network.

This might be out of scope.

IPv4 and IPv6 should be allowed within the same NVGRE network. There's really no good reason that this should restricted.

  17. Support all RRAS routing features in VMM when configuring Windows Server Gateway

RRAS has far more capabilities than those available in VMM. The current VMM limitations require that multiple gateway VMs be created when RRAS could handle most scenarios in 1 VM (or cluster).

Ideally many of the layer 3 features should be moved to the virtual switch and distributed either through a switch extension or native functionality. I would argue this applies to the upcoming firewall and load balancing functionality as well.

  18. Add Port Mirroring

    Dear VMM Team,

The protected Network and Port mirroring configuration is missing in VMM Port Profiles virtual network adapter.

Please add those two options so we can manage all vNICs from a single console.

    Thank you,

  19. Visual representation of maintencance mode

In VMM - VMs and Services - one can't tell at a glance if a host is in maintenance mode. You either have to check via context menu or by using the Fabric view (e.g. All Hosts). A visual representation of the active maintenance mode (maybe by changing the icon) would nice. Something like we have in Failover Cluster Manager. It also helps when mulitple admins are managing an evironment to see what's going on.

  20. Change Active Directory Check Behavior on Bare Metal Deployment

While redeploying an existing host, I disabled the host's AD account but neglected to check the box to "Skip Active Directory Check". This one mistake forced me to re-do the entire deployment, including the Deep Discovery that takes nearly 20 minutes on our hardware.

I suggest that this be a retryable condition, for starters.
For another, I suggest that if the AD account is disabled, that this be downgraded to a warning at most. Pre-staging computer accounts is a fairly common operation.
